Ellen + Robert | CT Wedding | Haley Mansion

In April 2016, after moving to Florida, Ellie’s friend began telling her about someone he wanted to introduce her to. Ellie was adamant that she was not interested in meeting someone. She wanted to focus on settling in to her new location and preparing to start school in the fall. Her friend was persistent, texting her regularly for two weeks until she finally relented. He arranged a group date at a sushi restaurant, and that is where Bobby and Ellie met. The trio hung out together and eventually Ellie asked Bobby on their first date! Bobby picked Ellie up at her apartment with a single purple rose, and the rest is history!

Bobby had an engagement ring custom designed by his family jeweler in New York City and held onto it a few months before he proposed. One night after getting home late from work, Bobby's voice rang out from the bedroom. "Ellie- come here!! You have to see this!" Ellie ran in to the bedroom to find Bobby on one knee, ring in hand. Of course she said “Yes!”

The happy couple chose the Haley Mansion in Mystic, CT for their wedding. After visiting the grounds of the mansion, they knew it was the right venue! The mansion is quintessential New England, with water views and rolling lawns. It is elegant without being overdone. The warm interior is a perfect blend of luxury and warmth, while the grounds are lush and bright. Ellie and Bobby loved the idea of incorporating nature in to their day without having to worry about the weather.

Their color palette incorporated their classic, elegant, and romantic style. They opted for blush and peach tones against white with gold accents. The flowers were a mix of traditional and whimsical and included hydrangeas, Juliet roses, and dahlias, drawn together by fragrant eucalyptus greens.

Ellie and Bobby wanted to keep the focus on what was truly important to them: celebrating their love with their loved ones! They opted for small bridal parties and an emphasis on family. They focused on food that was sure to delight, a location that would be friendly for all ages, and music that people could dance and let loose to. They also incorporated some fun activities, like a Polaroid-photo guest book and a special "bride or groom" quiz for the guests. Many of their guests traveled far so they wanted to make sure the wedding was a memorable experience!
