Jessica + Matthew | ST Clements Castle | CT Wedding Photography

Jessica and Matt met when they attended college at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. On move-in day for freshman year, Jess's car was in front of Matt's in the move-in line. As their parents drove up to the dorms, they got out of their cars at the same time just outside of the university gates. They were the very first people they met at college! Although Matt was interested in Jess right away, Jess didn't reciprocate the feeling until one year later when they were randomly assigned dorm rooms near each other! They kept running into one other, so Matt decided to ask Jess out and the rest is history!

Matt proposed on a hot August day in Baltimore. After having dinner at the restaurant where they had their first date, Matt suggested they walk around their old college campus. Despite it being nearly 100 degrees, Matt insisted on wearing his wool blazer. After a minute or so of walking, they passed through the university gates and approached an old oak tree; the same tree they had met under on the very first day of college! Matt took Jess by the hands and before she knew what was going on, Matt was on his knees pulling a small box out of his blazer and asking Jess to marry him. She of course said yes!

Matt and Jess knew exactly what they wanted for their wedding: a formal and elegant venue in the fall. When saw the breathtaking river views from the ceremony location at Saint Clements Castle, they knew it was the place! Choosing a color palette was also quite easy as Jess has an affinity for only one color: dark green. This was woven beautifully throughout their day from the one shoulder bridesmaids dresses to the napkins and floral details in the reception. For flowers, they chose dark green eucalyptus, white roses, and eggplant colored mums and orchids. Everything came together for a classy and elegant look!

The happy couple also included thoughtful details during their big day. Jess wore the same pearl earrings that her mom wore at her wedding to have a very special "something old" and "something borrowed." In addition, they displayed wedding pictures of their parents and grandparents at the reception as a way to honor their families and their inspirational marriages.

Jess and Matt, we enjoyed capturing your love and laughter and hope your wedding was all you both dreamed it would be!
