Our son came home with this bundle of fur last week and we couldn't help but be mesmerized by it's cuteness. We've always been dog people. I mean ALWAYS. We've never owned a cat, or ever really played with cats. Really. And we've quickly discovered that almost everything about kittens is different from puppies. That is, except for the cuddling.

When we first got Mia, our half boxer/half australian ridgeback - we fell in love. She came when we called her name. She listened when we told her to sit and do cute tricks. She even learned how to eat from a fork. She is dainty, caring, loving, beautiful and loyal - the list goes on. Her blue eyes still make our heart melt. And now, after 6 years of swearing Mia would be our last pet, we were introduced to Stavi Léon.

Let's just say, we've fallen in love all over again. This time, with something entirely different. We're in the process of learning what Stavi is like, so we wanted to share our thoughts.

1.) First off - we can confirm for sure that males and females come from different planets. Stavi is curious, independent and definitely not afraid of anything - except Mia. Mia is carefree, a gentle giant and such a sweet companion. Even though she weighs more then the average toddler, she would never even think about hurting a fly. Stavi on the other hand, is already dipping into hide and seek. Meaning - hiding from us under furniture and coming back at his pleasure with evidence - usually in the form of a dead fly.

2.) You can't make dogs and cats love each other - or at least right away. We were hoping they'd connect instantly, since Mia is so loving - which hasn't been the case, at all. She's tried on multiple occasions to break the tension, and Stavi is NOT having it. Fingers are still crossed that they'll be BFF's and taking naps together soon.

The way Stavi can fall asleep in a split second in our hands puts the biggest smiles on our faces. If you don't own a pet, or have never owned something of a different species, we urge you to. The love and happiness that comes from all types of pets is unexplainable. It's truly amazing.
